RELEVANT EDUCATION
My journey in interest in humanities started at a very young age as a little girl who was fascinated by human interaction and always wanted to understand more about the multifaceted being.
In pursuit of my goals I achieved my BSc Degree in Medunsa where I further on qualified for my Honours in Psychology under the University of Limpopo (Medunsa campus) I eventually obtained my Master of Arts degree with UNISA and my research output was on “The Psychological Impact of Caregiving on Carers of HIV/AIDS Orphans”.
PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
Upon completion of my studies, I further became an Intern Psychologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where I interacted with a diverse population offering assessments, diagnostic and psychological intervention services at both the child and adult psychiatric units. I followed up with my community service at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg offering interventions to individuals affected by psychological and psychiatric related difficulties at the psychiatric adult unit and broader hospital organization through consultations. My journey continued with doing medico-legal work, after which I joined a government organization under Employee Health and Wellness offering psychological interventions in assisting personnel within the organization with their emotional, personal, and work related difficulties.
MY PHILOSOPHY
Such as the symbolism of a lotus flower, every human being has an ability to rise above obstacles.
Every client is unique, as such each experience, difficulties, and needs brought within the therapeutic space. Therefore each session is with the focus to understand the client and their situations from their perspective.
MY APPROACH
Coming from a systemic and person centred background, I view people’s concerns, challenges, or life transitions in relation to their interactions within their interpersonal relations and backgrounds that may impact on their wellbeing. The therapeutic space is thus to allow the clients to use their understanding of their experiences as a platform to make informed decisions and appropriate changes in their lives towards long term healing and self-growth.
